Development of Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC) Services Referral Protocol 

 

The Health Care Accreditation Council, a non-profit organization based in Jordan, was established to lead comprehensive quality and safety improvements of the healthcare environment, services, governance, and worker performance through providing customized, high-end products with a commitment to sustainable practices and global standards, in partnership with local and regional stakeholders.

The Health Care Accreditation Council is seeking to recruit the services of a qualified Subject Matter Expert for a short-term consultancy to review and update referral protocols for Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC) Services in Jordan. This activity is part of a project implemented by HCAC and supported by UNFPA Jordan where a comprehensive assessment of obstetric and newborn care among Jordan has been conducted, the overall objective of this assessment is to generate evidence on the current availability, utilization and quality of EmONC and routine delivery services in Jordan. Based on the main findings and recommendations of Jordan`s EmONC Assessment 2022-2023 Report, HCAC and UNFPA will review and update the current EmONC services referral protocols from Zaatari and Azraq camp clinics to hospitals in Jordan.

 

​- Qualifications

  • Advanced educational background in medicine, public health, RMNCH with at least 5 years of hands-on experience.
  • Qualified to work in woman and child health related topics (qualified by training and experience)
  • Familiarity with Jordan’s health system and its different sectors is desired.
  • Previous experience in developing and/or reviewing health services pathways or protocols is desired.
  • Previous experience with international organizations is desired (e.g., UN, USAID, UNICEF, etc.)

 

Main Duties:

  1. Reviewing the current referral protocols of EmONC services from Zaatari and Azraq camps clinics to Hospitals.
  2. Conducting desktop research of best referral practices at the national and international levels
  3. Facilitating workshops with stakeholders from different sectors to discuss the current protocols and area of improvements.
  4. Conducting field visits to Zaatari and Azraq Camps to observe the provided maternal, obstetric and newborn care services.
  5. Submitting the final EmONC services referral protocols.
