Conducting Research Studies for the Outcomes of Accreditation Preparation Process

 

The Health Care Accreditation Council, a non-profit organization based in Jordan, was established to lead comprehensive quality and safety improvements of the healthcare environment, services, governance, and worker performance through providing customized, high-end products with a commitment to sustainable practices and global standards, in partnership with local and regional stakeholders. 

The “USAID Al Bashir Hospitals Preparation for Accreditation Activity” is a four-and-a half-year Activity funded by the United States Agency for International Development/Jordan (USAID/Jordan) under Fixed Amount Award No. 72027818FA00001 and is implemented by the Health Care Accreditation Council (HCAC), in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the hospitals’ leadership and staff. 

To  drive enhancements in the quality of services and patient safety at Al Bashir Hospitals, with the goal of improving the health status in Jordan, through the preparation of the hospitals for accreditation., the HCAC under “USAID Al Bashir Hospitals Preparation for Accreditation Activity”, seeks a qualified and experienced individual in “Evidence - Quantitative Research Specialist” to support the Health Care Accreditation Council in conducting research activities to measure improvement and impact from the implementation of milestones within the USAID Al Bashir Hospitals Preparation for Accreditation activity. qualified applicants are invited to submit via email a CV and cover letter in English, detailing his/her qualifications; experience and relevant skills, to hc1vacancy@gmail.com.

The consultancy title must be specified in the subject line of the email (ABHs-6). The deadline for applications is 10 July, 2023.

The applicant qualifications must include:

  1. Minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience in conducting and publishing quantitative research .
  2. Familiarity and/or experience with social research  designed within the Middle East region a plus.
  3. Ability to generate research ideas
  4. Ability to use multi-media sources for research.
  5. Ability to distinguish between relevant and irrelevant information.
  6. Ability to group information according to similarities.
  7. Advance knowledge in Academic writing
  8. Knowledge in quantitative research methodologies.
  9. Knowledge in sampling scheme and sample size.
  10. Data management  ( Data Entry , how to analyze data  , how to present data , and how to interpret data.
  11. Ability to discuss findings in light of related literature.

 

Scope of Work

Conducting research studies to assess outcomes of preparing Al Bashir Hospitals for Accreditation based on The Health Care Accreditation Council Hospital Accreditation standards, . The consultant will perform the following functions:

  1. Conduct literature review of previous studies on the subject; and justification of the study by stating the problem and its importance ( Rational and Background ).
  2. Develop objectives for research study that describe how the research will contribute to improve the quality  interventions and/or strengthen the public health system.
  3. Develop description of  materials and methods that includes the area or setting where the study will be conducted. This description should cover the details relevant to the study topic that includes the Study Subjects, Study design, Sampling technique, and Data collection methods, instruments used and measurements.
  4. Design data quality assurance methods, data management and analysis plans, and tests used for data analysis and statistical package.
  5. Develop the required procedures for ethical consideration including preparing for the approval from relevant research committees.

 

KEY DELIVERABLES 

Output 1 : Literature Review of previous studies on the subject; and justification of the study by stating the problem and its importance ( Rational & Background ) .
Output 2 : Study Objectives ( Describe how the research will contribute to improve the quality  interventions and/or strengthen the public health system).

Output 3: Materials and Methods.

  1. Study area/setting: Describe the area or setting where the study will be conducted. This description should cover the details relevant to the study topic)
  2. Study subjects: Mention the eligibility criteria (inclusion and exclusion) of the study subjects
  3. Study design: Mention the type of study design e.g., cross-sectional, case-control, intervention study, etc.
  4. Sample size: Mention the input criteria for sample size estimation. This needs the expertise of an epidemiologist.
  5. Sampling technique: Mention the sampling technique that will be used in order to obtain a representative sample for your target population. This needs the expertise of an epidemiologist.
  6. Data Collection methods, instruments used, measurements:
    • Describe the instruments used for data collection (questionnaire, observation recording form, etc..); studied variables included in these instruments, as well as the methods used to test for the validity and reliability of the instrument
    • Techniques used should be briefly described and referenced
    • Describe the quality control measures and good practices followed during the study implementation e.g., GLP, GCP, Laboratory quality assurance methods, etc.
    • List study definitions (e.g., case definition)

Output 4: Data quality assurance methods, data management and analysis plans: Describe the data quality assurance methods, data management and analysis plans, tests used for data analysis and statistical package.

Output 5:  Ethical considerations.

Output 6: Bibliographic references: List at least 10 recent articles relevant to the study subject and enumerated according to their order of appearance in the text)
