The Health Care Accreditation Council (HCAC) is delighted to announce the release of the 3rd Edition of its Breast Imaging Units Certification Standards, aligning with updated national and international guidelines. This milestone reflects HCAC's commitment to improving access to high-quality, safe breast cancer early detection and diagnostic services in Jordan, leading to improved survival rates and lower treatment costs.
Key Highlights of the 3rd Edition:
- Person-Centered Care: A shift from a solely patient-centered focus to a broader, more inclusive approach that considers the comprehensive needs of individuals.
- Evidence-Based Updates: Updating patient assessment standards and early detection and diagnosis procedures to align with the National Guidelines for Early Detection and Diagnosis of Breast Cancer, issued by the Jordan National Breast Cancer Program in 2024.
This edition introduces 7 new standards and revises 18 existing ones to meet updates in the field of early detection of breast cancer. To support the implementation of these improvements, HCAC will organize workshops in May 2025 for accredited Breast Imaging Units, HCAC surveyors and consultants. These sessions aim to inform stakeholders and potential standards users about the new standards and the changes made.
Breast Imaging Units will be surveyed according to the 3rd Edition starting from November 2025.
HCAC remains committed to enhancing healthcare quality in Jordan and looks forward to engaging with healthcare professionals during the workshops.
