HCAC Launches the 5th Edition of Hospital Standards with Focus on Person-Centered Care and Modern Healthcare Innovations

The Health Care Accreditation Council (HCAC) proudly announces the completion of the 5th Edition of its Hospital Accreditation Standards, aligning with updated national and international norms. This milestone reflects HCAC's commitment to advancing healthcare quality and safety in Jordan, emphasizing person-centered care as the cornerstone of the standards development framework. Noting that these standards will be implemented, and hospital evaluations based on them will begin starting from October 2025.

Key updates in the 5th Edition include:

  • Person-Centered Care: Transitioning from patient-centered care to a broader focus on the holistic needs of individuals.
  • Leadership Excellence: Introducing contemporary leadership programs to strengthen leadership skills and competencies across healthcare organizations.
  • Patient Advocacy: Enhancing patient satisfaction through robust advocacy programs.
  • Digital Transformation: Emphasizing digital governance and incorporating the growing role of telehealth services.
  • Climate Resilience: Addressing climate change through environmental sustainability plans for healthcare facilities.
  • Just Culture: Promoting a culture of accountability and learning over a blame-free environment.
  • Clinical Outcomes: Prioritizing clinical health outcomes to improve care quality and patient safety.

This edition introduces 40 new standards and revises 60 existing ones to address evolving healthcare challenges. To support the implementation of these improvements, HCAC will organize workshops in April 2025 for accredited hospitals, HCAC surveyors and consultants. These sessions aim to inform stakeholders and potential standards users about the new standards and the changes made.

HCAC remains committed to enhancing healthcare quality in Jordan and looks forward to engaging with healthcare professionals during the workshops.

Stay tuned for updates as we continue efforts to improve the standard of patient care.
